ELIJAH HENSRUD WINS CROOKSTON DISRICT SPELLING BEE, ADVANCES TO REGIONAL BEE

The Crookston Public Schools held their annual Crookston District Spelling Bee on Wednesday afternoon inside the Crookston High School Auditorium. There were 16 competitors in this year’s spelling bee, ranging from fifth to eighth grade.

Below are all of this year’s district spelling bee competitors-

5th grade, Liam Hofeldt, Odin Prudhomme, Devin Gudmundson, Cora Jackson

6th grade, Harper Hann, Melody Oritz, Reason Barton, Noah Hensrud

7th grade, Lily Olmstead, Lyla Oman, Marshall Hanson, Gabe Ali

8th grade, Elijiah Hensrud, Cadence Corona, Abbey Lundmark, Nora Groven

The winner of this year’s district spelling bee was eighth grader Elijah Hensrud. He will now advance to the Regional Spelling Bee at Northland Community & Technical College in Thief River Falls on Wednesday, February 7. Hensrud has taken third place in this competition twice and couldn’t be more excited to participate in the regional competition.
