ERSKINE SET TO HOLD ITS 68TH ANNUAL WATER CARNIVAL

Erskine will hold its 68th Annual Water Carnival on Friday, May 31, and Saturday, June 1. All events will be held on Main Street.

The event was held over four days in previous years, starting on Thursday and ending on Sunday. This year, the events will be spread over only two days, with Saturday having a full day’s worth of activities. Detailing the change in length of the carnival is Erskine Water Carnival Representative Tommy Helgeson, “Up until two years ago, we would always have a midway, the carnival, well since then it’s gotten more difficult to find a carnival that would come to Erskine, so we kind of compressed it this year into two days so some of the things you’re normally used to seeing like the car show on Sunday with the big parade afterward all that is on Saturday now.”

Friday’s events will be as follows-

  • A Bicycle Giveaway, at 5:30 p.m.
  • A Bean Bag Toss Tournament at 6:00 p.m.
  • A Coin Dig at the beach at 6:00 p.m.
  • Another Bicycle Giveaway, at 6:30 p.m.
  • The Little Miss Northern Pike Contest, at 7:00 p.m.
  • A Free Street Dance with a live band from 9:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m.

Plenty of fun should be had at the Erskine Water Carnival this year. Helgeson says to those thinking of coming, “Hey, come to Erskine on Friday and Saturday. Two days this year the Water Carnival, looks like we’re going to have some decent weather. Normally, they call it the Water Carnival because it usually rains, but hopefully, we have good weather.”
