Family Halloween Activities Planned Around Crookston

The Halloween season is upon us, events begin Sunday, October 28 with the 31st Annual Crookston Community Halloween Party at the National Guard Armory.  Attendees are asked to bring a can food item to help kick off the Crookston High School LEO Club’s annual food drive.
“The event is for youth fourth grade and younger, but older siblings can come with the younger ones and all should be accompanied by a responsible adult,” said Darin Selzer.  “We have lots of games, give away over 200 pounds of candy, we’ll have a squad car there and about 6-10 police officers for the kids to meet.”
The Grand Theatre will also host their 6th Annual Free Halloween Movie Night on Wednesday, October 31.  The family movie will play at 7:00 p.m., with the scary moving at 9:30 p.m. There will be specials for concessions and a costume contest with prizes.
“We keep a little secret what the movies will be so it’s a bit of a surprise,” explained the Grand Theater’s Bo Brorby.  “It’s about having great fun getting friends and family together, dressed up if they want to have fun, safe Halloween.”

Halloween Safety Tips from the Crookston Police Department.  “We always recommend you carry a flashlight and have something reflective while trick-or-treating,” said Selzer.  “Always pair with a buddy, look both ways before crossing the street and it’s a good idea to check that candy is safe and wrapped properly.
