On Tuesday, February 25, the Crookston Library’s CALL Committee will host a Celebrate the Young Child Event from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The event’s theme is Follow the Yellow Brick Road, and CALL member Francine Olson stopped by to chat with us about it.
“We are the CALL group, which is the Crookston Alliance for Literacy and Learning, and we are the group that plans and produces the second event of Celebrate the Young Child, which has three events; there was one last fall, and there will be one in April,” says Olson. “This is the winter event, and the CALL Committee puts that on, and this year, the theme is Follow the Yellow Brick Road.”
Olson says there will be characters from Wizard of Oz on hand Tuesday night. “We are encouraging people to dress in Wizard of Oz costumes,” says Olson. “Dorothy will be there, of course, and hopefully, the lion will show up, as will the scarecrow and the Tin Man, so come dressed in costume if you want to.”
The CALL Committee has four activities lined up for the kids on Tuesday evening, from games to crafts and more. “There will be four activity stations for kids and you follow the yellow brick road around the library and you will run into a station that has a magic wand you can decorate, there will be bowling with yellow bricks to knock down, there will be a pin the heart on the tin man and a Play-Doh stations to make little yellow brick road figures,” says Olson. “At the end, we will also have a photo booth, so you will be able to have your picture taken with you and whoever comes with you.” Olson says all ages are welcome, the children will leave with a free book, and the evening should be a lot of fun.
Join in the fun at the Celebrate the Young Child Event taking place at the Crookston Public Library on Tuesday, February 25, at 6:00 p.m.
