Frank L. Pahlen-Obit

Frank L. Pahlen, 68, of Red Lake Falls, MN, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 18, 2023, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND, with his loving family by his side.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN, with Deacon John Bruggeman presiding. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN, with Father Bob Schreiner presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake Falls.

Frank Lynn Pahlen was born April 4, 1955, in Crookston, MN, the son of John and Lucille (Sewill) Pahlen. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Euclid, MN. He attended Country School near Euclid and Crookston High School.

On November 30, 1974, Frank married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Bonnie Opperud at the United Methodist Church in Crookston. The couple made their home in Red Lake Falls, MN, and to this union, four wonderful children, Luke, Shasta, Lacey, and Andrew.

Frank had a career as Superintendent at Vigen Construction, consisting of over 47 years of employment. Frank retired at the age of 64. Throughout the years, he was proud to have his two sons work beside him as well as his dad, brothers, nephews and brothers-in-law.

Frank was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time at Lake-of-the-Woods with family and friends; and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He loved spending time around the campfire with family and friends telling jokes, listening to the Twins and reminiscing. At home, you could find him in his man cave watching sports on his two tvs with his dog, Hootch, and later, Brandy.

Survivors include his loving wife, Bonnie of Red Lake Falls; children, Luke (Shelly) Pahlen of Crookston, MN, Shasta (Marc) Pahlen Guillemette of Red Lake Falls, Lacey (Dan) Konickson of Red Lake Falls and Andrew (Brittanie) Pahlen of Plummer, MN; grandchildren, Dominick, Isabel, Nathan, Lillyan, Daniel, Max, Adley, Masen, Leah and Evan; siblings, Randy (Jeanine) Pahlen of Plummer, Laura (Curt) Beyer of Red Lake Falls, Linda (Keith Fuller) Hanson of Mentor, MN, Val (Darin) Myhre of Red Lake Falls; brother-in-law, Art Klipping; sisters-in-law, Bonnie J. Pahlen and Renae (Steve) Philipp all of Red Lake Falls; mother-in-law, Gladys Opperud; brothers-in-law, Allan, Gary, Curtis; sisters-in-law, Julie, Rose, Mary Jo, and Lynette; and many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald, Theodore, Gary, Glenn and Timothy; sister, Cis Klipping; brother-in-law, Delbert Schultz; nephews, Darin and Austin; father-in-law, Raymond Opperud; and sister-in-law, Diane Domier.
