FRAZEE RUSHES TO A DOMINANT VICTORY OVER CROOKSTON FOOTBALL

The Crookston Pirate Football team had a tough time stopping the ground game of the Frazee Hornets, as they cruised to a 41-0 shutout victory in a Section 8AA game played at a neutral site at Moorhead High School.

1st Quarter –
Frazee received the opening kickoff and got off to a fantastic start, as Brady Crabtree took a handoff and ran 58 yards down to the Pirate’s one-yard line. On the next play, Tyler Moe ran it in for the one-yard score to give Frazee the 7-0 lead. Crookston got the ball for the first time and went three and out.
Frazee got the ball back and immediately began to pound the rock again. Crabtree got three straight carries that totaled 36 yards. After a run for no gain, Frazee committed a chop block penalty that put them well behind the chains. The Hornet would be forced to punt two plays later.
Crookston started their next possession with a completion to Rylan Lubarski for 13 yards. After a couple of runs, the Pirates took to the air again, and Tate Hamre made a diving 18-yard catch after an electrifying Teagen Lubinski scramble. Just when the Pirates started gaining momentum, Frazee’s Jack Graham tipped a Lubinski pass, and Nathan Longfors intercepted it.

2nd Quarter –
It would only take Frazee five plays to capitalize on the Crookston turnover as Crabtree broke another run, this time for 45 yards and a touchdown. Crookston needed to get something going down 14-0, and they would not get it on the next possession as they would go three and out.
Frazee continued to pound the rock on their next drive. Crabtree would have a run of 9 yards and then another for 19 to put the Hornets in Crookston territory. A Crookston personal foul penalty would put Frazee even closer, and three plays later, Crabtree would find the endzone again, this time on a 5-yard run.
Down 21-0, Crookston’s offense would continue to struggle as they would go three and out again.
Frazee would get the ball back and try and make it a four-score game. A pair of Crabtree runs gained 13 yards. Crookston would finally get a huge defensive stop three plays later, with Ty Hamre getting a sack and bringing up just the 2nd fourth down for Frazee, and the Hornets punted. Crookston would run one more play before the half ended with Frazee ahead 21-0.

3rd Quarter –
Crookston received the second-half kickoff, and it was Frazee’s defense remaining strong as they forced a three and out. Crabtree would continue to run rampant on the Pirate defense as he got three straight carries. The first went for three yards, the next for 12 yards, and finally, a 25-yard run for a touchdown.
Crookston would have a 3rd and 13 on their next drive, and they would convert with a 25-yard pass to Lubarski. A couple of plays later, Lubinski would find Carter Coauette for 14 yards. Lubinski would attempt a big pass play to the end zone, but it was dropped, and two plays later, the Pirates would turn it over on downs.
Frazee would get the ball back and run it with three different players. The first was to Crabtree for three yards, the next was a QB keeper from Adam Vegan for eight yards, and a four-yard run from Moe. Two plays later, Frazee had a 3rd and five, and Vegan would complete a pass to Jesse Rollins for six yards and a first down. Crabtree would then get a carry for 12 yards to end the quarter.

4th Quarter –
Frazee would begin the quarter with a couple of short runs, bringing up 3rd and nine, where they would complete a pass to Asher Blaine for 18 yards. On the next play, Vegan would take a shot to the endzone, and Carter Sonnenberg would come down with it for the 17-yard touchdown.
Crookston would get the ball back, and they would go three and out. Frazee got the ball back and began to run out the clock. Crabtree would get a carry for four yards, Nagal would get a carry for 14 yards, and Moe would get a carry for three yards before Frazee brought in 11 new players to close out the game. Dawson Lyman got two carries for ten yards, Mason Mickelson got two carries for 17 yards, Tanner Moe got a carry for 5 yards, and Ayden Grossman got two carries for 8 yards, the second one resulting in a touchdown. Grossman would score the two-point conversion as the running clock ran out, and Frazee would win 41-0.

Crookston falls to 0-3 and faces Pelican Rapids next Friday. Frazee improves to 1-2 and travels to Warroad on Friday.
