Giving Hearts Day is right around the corner! Please consider a gift to the RiverView Foundation on February 9 to benefit the patients RiverView Health serves.
This year marks the 16th year of the 24-hour fundraiser for non-profits. The RiverView Foundation has participated in the event since the beginning. Many projects, programs, and funds exist because of Giving Hearts Day. Donations and gifts given in memory or honor of loved ones have been used to purchase essential equipment to keep our community healthy.
The Foundation Board has determined that undesignated 2023 Giving Hearts Day contributions will be used to purchase the following replacement analyzers for the RiverView Laboratory at an estimated cost of $125,000:
- Abbott Architect Analyzer: This is a general chemistry analyzer used to perform comprehensive metabolic panels, glucose (blood sugar), lipid panels, and many other tests. The analyzer will be used hundreds of times weekly for patients in all areas of RiverView.
- Sysmex Analyzer: This is a hematology analyzer. Hematology is the study of the physical parts of the blood – the red blood cells, white blood cells, hemoglobin, the volume of cells, and everything in between. The Sysmex Analyzer will be used for common testing on a wide variety of patients at RiverView.
“Both of these analyzers are used from newborns to geriatric patients and all ages in between,’’ shared Emily Nelson, director of RiverView’s Laboratory. “They are vital to help providers assess the overall health of our patients.’’
The Dakota Medical Foundation (DMF), Impact Foundation, and Alex Stern Family Foundation host Giving Hearts Day. On February 9, DMF and other generous donors will provide up to $50,000 in match contributions to the RiverView Foundation to stretch donations even further to make the maximum impact.
