“GOLDEN GALS” DONATE LEMONADE PROCEEDS TO WASHINGTON SCHOOL

Nimens Espegard Apartments’ residents again participated in the Ox Cart Days Lemonade Stand Contest on Thursday, August 17, as the “Golden Gals.”

As returning winners from the 2022 contest, the large quantities of lemonade featured real lemons. Thoughtfully, regular and sugar-free lemonade was offered, along with popcorn and brownies. Lemonade Stand customers enjoyed viewing one of Brian Anderson’s classic cars. They were invited by the gracious hosts to sip lemonade in the shade on the building’s new patio, decorated with beautiful potted flowers, garden vegetables, and quilts.

The Golden Gals generously donated the proceeds from the Lemonade Stand to Washington School for the benefit of some of our community’s youngest members. Washington School offers Early Childhood Family Education for families with children ages birth to five years old, School Readiness for three- and four-year-olds, and Kindergarten for children who will be five years old by September 1. As seen in the photo, Denice Oliver, Washington School Principal accepted the $500 donation and was invited to stay and have lemonade, brownies, and a great conversation with the Golden Gals. During the visit, Mrs. Oliver learned that two Golden Gals had attended Washington Elementary School, of which one person even had participated in the opening year in 1954.
