GRACE FISCHER WRAPS UP PLAY AT MSHSL CLASS AA STATE GOLF TOURNAMENT WITH 68TH PLACE FINISH

Crookston Pirate Junior Grace Fischer competed on the final day of the MSHSL Class AA Girls Golf Tournament at the Ridges at Sand Creek Golf Course in Jordan. Fischer shot a 105 yesterday putting her in 72nd place after Day 1. Due to rain and lightning delays, the tournament was shortened to just 9 holes of play today for a total of 27. Fischer went off the back nine for her 9 holes and shot a 46 for a two-day total of 151 which was good for a tie for 68th place in the tournament. Lake City easily won the State Tournament with a score of 491, 39 strokes better than second-place finishing Fergus Falls. Mallory Belka of Perham won the individual title with an impressive score of +6 114 over the 27 holes.

BACK NINE –
With each golfer only playing 9 holes on the final day of the tournament, Fischer like everyone else was assigned to the back nine. She shot a 53 on the back nine yesterday but got off to a much better start today. She started with a double bogey but put together back-to-back pars on the 125-yard par-three eleventh hole, and 285-yard par-four twelfth hole. Fischer ran into some trouble on the par-four 339-yard thirteenth hole and recorded a triple bogey, but would bounce right back with a par on the 260-yard par-four fourteenth hole. Fischer would double bogey the next two holes before getting a par on the par-three 116-yard seventeenth hole. Fischer would then end her round with a bogey for a score of 46, seven strokes better than her 53 on the back nine yesterday. The 46 gave her a total score of 151 for the 27-hole State Tournament.
