GRAND FORKS POLICE DEPARTMENT RESPOND TO ATTEMPTED MURDER FRIDAY NIGHT

On Friday, July 8, at approximately 8:30 p.m., officers from the Grand Forks Police Department were dispatched to the area of the 3600 Block of Landeco Lane for a disturbance involving several people. Witnesses reported that an involved male suspect was displaying a handgun.

Responding officers received a report that one person had been shot. Responding officers located a victim with a gunshot wound. They rendered aid on the scene and the victim was transported to Altru hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.           

While this was occurring officers were able to locate a suspect vehicle based on witness descriptions.  

Officers arrested 19-year-old Omar Deronjic of West Fargo, ND. Deronjic was charged with three counts of terrorizing and one count of attempted murder.

The Grand Forks Police Department was assisted by Altru Ambulance.
