UPDATE 7/16/19 1:14 p.m.
On Monday, July 15 at approximately 6:15 p.m. a body, subsequently identified as that of Fernando Balboa, was discovered in rural Polk County. The circumstances behind the death of Mr.Balboa are under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the Grand Forks Police Department. There were no obvious signs of trauma to Mr.Balboa; however, the investigation is ongoing and a cause of death has not yet been determined.

Fernando Balboa is still missing and no information on his whereabouts has been developed. We are asking Grand Forks citizens to check their property paying extra attention to areas of shelter such as garages, sheds, gazebos, RVs, parked vehicles, etc. With the rains that have occurred since Mr.Balboa was last seen we believe it is possible that he may have sought shelter somewhere to get out of the elements.

The Grand Forks Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a Missing Person-Endangered, last seen on July 6 at his residence. The missing person is Fernando Balboa, 55-year-old. Mr. Balboa is required to take medication every 4 hours, and if he doesn’t, can cause a serious medical condition. Mr. Balboa is approximately 5’7, and 250 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes. Mr. Balboa was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white t-shirt, and a blue & white short sleeved shirt. If anybody has seen or sees Mr. Balboa, please call the GFPD at (701) 787-8000.
