Harriet Olson – Obit

Harriet E. Olson, 96, Chaska, MN, formerly of Fertile, MN passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.

Harriet Evangeline Aune Olson was born August 20, 1926, in Sundal Township, Norman County, Minnesota to Oscar Samuel Aune and Mina Otilia Larson Aune, the ninth child of a family of eleven.  She was baptized September 26, 1926, and confirmed November 3, 1940, in Sundal Lutheran Church, in Sundal Township.  Harriet attended first through eighth grade at a country school near Gary, and high school at Gary School in Gary, Minnesota, graduating in 1944, one of a class of 23.

On August 29, 1944, Harriet was united in marriage to Marvin Parnell Olson in Norman County, Minnesota.  Harriet and Marvin, along with Marvin’s brother James, lived and farmed in rural Norman County, until 1983.  Harriet provided valuable help on the farm driving a grain truck, doing chores, and making herself available to keep things running smoothly.  Harriet and Marvin attended Concordia Lutheran Church in Fertile, where Harriet spent many years living out her faith and was an active member of the Ladies Aid. In 1983 Harriet and Marvin purchased a home in Fertile.

Harriet had a beautiful smile and a gentle disposition. She valued time with family and friends and was always willing to listen and cover you in prayer.  She enjoyed music, dancing, playing cards, traveling, and visiting.  She spent the better part of the last 15 years in Chaska, MN with her daughter Connie’s family providing much-needed care, assistance, and love.

Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Mina, and her husband of 49 years, Marvin.  Besides her parents and husband, she was welcomed into heaven by 4 brothers, 5 sisters, 13 brothers-in-law, and 9 sisters-in-laws, along with many nephews and nieces.

Surviving Harriet is two loving daughters, Paulette Olson Krebs (Ken) and Connie Olson Snow (Greg); five grandchildren, Casey Krebs, Jacob Lenz (Ashley), Isaac Snow (Leah), Clara Snow, and Elly Snow; and two great-grandchildren, Brody and Easton Lenz.  Also surviving Harriet is one sister, Alvina Aune Smokov, and one sister-in-law, June Olson Dale, along with many nephews and great-nephews, nieces, and great-nieces.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Fertile, MN.

Visitation: From 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the church.

Interment: Concordia Lutheran Cemetery, Fertile, MN.
