Fifth and sixth-grade students from Highland Elementary competed in the regional Math Masters of Minnesota Challenge in Bemidji on April 26.
Sixth-grade students Adelyn Knudson, Matthew Contreras, Parker Kelly, Hattie Weiland, Michael Deng, Tessa Weber, Maddie Harbott, Joey Nesseth, Jack Everett, and Tyler Michaelson represented Crookston. These students competed individually and as a team on eight sets of mathematical problems in this competition for a total of 325 problems. They competed against 106 other 6th grade students from 22 teams. The team placed 7th out of all the schools competing!
Jack Everett placed 8th and Maddie Harbott placed 12th in the order of operations timed test. Maddie placed 14th and Tessa placed 15th in the individual portion of the competition.
The Highland School fifth-grade students, Autumn Rowan, Sam Widseth, Jace Bruggeman, and Ashton Hoffman competed individually and as a team on eight sets of mathematical problems in this competition for a total of 325 problems. They competed against 203 other students from 42 teams. The team placed 11th out of all the fifth-grade teams competing!
Sam Widseth placed 20th in the order of operations timed test and 34th in the individual portion of the competition.
