HUGO’S FAMILY MARKETPLACE, CUSTOMERS MAKE DONATION TO POLK COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY

On Friday morning Bob O’Halloran, Crookston Store Manager for Hugo’s Family Marketplace, presented a check to Humane Society of Polk County Board President Barry Stephens for $1,142 from Hugo’s and their customers.  O’Halloran said Hugo’s matched the donations made by customers when checking out.  “It was a donation we did through the tills,” said O’Halloran.  “We asked customers if they wanted to donate for the Humane Society.  Customers were gracious enough to donate $571.  Then Hugo’s matched that, so they get a total of $1,142.”

Stephens said donation drives like the one at Hugo’s are essential to keep the Humane Society operating.  “They are definitely important,” said Stephens.  “It’s the way we stay in operation.”

The Humane Society of Polk County is a non-profit, no-kill shelter in Crookston that began operation in 1981 and moved into their current location on E Robert St in 1993.
