Joseph Henry Hagl – OBIT

Joseph Henry Hagl passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 surrounded by his loving family at the Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Bob Schreiner  Officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery near Red Lake Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls.

Joseph Henry Hagl was born on May 3 1932 in Red Lake County, near Terrebonne, MN son of Louis and Luella (Meyer) Hagl. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Terrebonne. He attended Terrebonne School until his father passed away at age 13.

Joe entered the US Army on July 21, 1953 and served his country until his honorable discharge on July 21, 1955. He was transferred to the army reserve for 6 years.

On December 14, 1968 he was united in marriage to Patsy Keck at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Terrebonne. To this union 3 boys were born Louis, Edward and Joseph. The couple made their home in Red Lake Falls, where Joe was employed at Detroiter/Homarck until age 60 when he retired.

Joe enjoyed woodworking, puzzles but mainly visiting with family and friends.

Joe is survived by children Louis Hagl of Sauk Centre, MN, Edward (Juanita) Hagl of Goodridge, MN and Joseph (Glory Leiberg) Hagl of Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren Brianna Hagl, Brittany (Tylor) DePlazes, Joshua (Andi) Hagl, Kristin (Adam) Reierson, Mercedes Wilson, Jayden Hagl, Patricia Hagl, Tyler Hagl, Kailee Hagl, Brenden Hagl, Joseph Allen Hagl, Kadyn Hagl; great-grandchildren Avery, Emma, Wyatt, Jaxx, Kelsey, Adam, Addalynn, Braxlynn, Eva, Leland, Roxy and Lexi; along with many nieces and nephews.

Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Hagl, parents Louis and Luella Hagl, siblings James Vickery, Theresa Cardinal, Josephine DeHaan, Harvey Hagl, Elizabeth Sauve, Alfred Hagl, Margaret Kehn, and Pete Hagl.
