KROX will be playing some Classic Crookston Pirate sporting events Monday, April 13 through Thursday, April 16. The games will be aired at 7:05 p.m. each evening. Monday, April 13 – 1995 State Baseball Semi-final– Crookston vs Luverne
Tuesday, April 14 – 1995 State Baseball Championship – Crookston vs Brooklyn Center – 10 inning game (One of the best State Baseball championship games ever. The 1995 Baseball team has been inducted into the Crookston High School Hall of Fame)
Wednesday, April 15 – 2003 Section 8AAA Football Championship game – Crookston vs East Grand Forks. (This was in the thick of some of the best Crookston vs EGF football games that have ever been played with talent galore on both sides!!! The championship thriller in 2003 came down to the last minute of the game at the Alerus Center on October 31.)
Thursday, April 16 – 2006 Section 8AA Girls Basketball Championship game – Crookston vs Barnesville (Crookston was led by head Coach Eric Schmidt who is now an Assistant Football Coach at Fresno State – Crookston had one player play at Iowa, two played at Bemidji State and one played at University of Mary.)
Friday, April 17 – 1980 State Class A Football Championship – Crookston vs Pipestone. The game was held in Crookston. Two Minnesota Broadcaster Hall of Famers have the call (Jerry Dahlberg and Frank Fee). The half time interview is with Tony Dungy (he was a Gopher Assistant Football Coach at the time and was in Crookston watching the game).
Monday, April 20 – 2007 Section 8A Girls Hockey Championship game – Crookston vs Warroad.
We are looking for some other section championship games – Pirate Boys Basketball vs Pelican Rapids in 2004?, Crookston Central vs Mount St. Benedict hockey game, or any games like that.
Also if anybody has any area teams (Red Lake Falls, Red Lake County, Fertile-Beltrami, Warren-Alvarado-Oslo section championship game recordings of a KROX broadcast let us know and we would love to get them on!!)
