The Minnesota Soybean Growers Association (MSGA) welcomed a new slate of officers during its quarterly board meeting on June 20, held at the organization’s recently renovated headquarters in Mankato. The 2024-25 officer team, led by President Darin Johnson, reflects a dynamic shift towards younger leadership within the association.
“I’m honored and excited to lead this talented group of individuals,” said Darin Johnson, a seasoned member of MSGA with nearly a decade of service. “We have a strong legacy to uphold, and I look forward to advocating for our farmers and advancing our priorities in the year ahead.”
Joining President Johnson are newly appointed officers: Ryan Mackenthun of Brownton as Vice President, Rose Wendinger from St. James as Treasurer, and Kyle Jore, a farmer from Thief River Falls, as Secretary. Jore, reflecting on his appointment, emphasized the team’s dedication to addressing critical issues facing the soybean industry, including crop input protection and trade policies.
“This is a great team, and I’m excited to advocate on behalf of our farmers,” said Kyle Jore. “Our focus will be on promoting and defending our priorities as we navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead.”
The leadership transition also marks the departure of Bob Worth, MSGA’s long-serving President, known for his advocacy successes in areas such as biodiesel and rural mental health awareness. Worth will continue his advocacy for Minnesota farmers as he takes on a new role representing the state on the American Soybean Association.
Established in 1962, MSGA is a nonpartisan, farmer-led advocacy organization representing nearly 26,000 soybean farmers across Minnesota. The association’s mission is to ensure profitable soybean farming through legislative influence, policy monitoring, and support for research and market development activities.
