MAN INJURED DURING ACCIDENTIAL DISCHARGE WHILE CLEANING GUN IN GRAND FORKS

On Wednesday, March 11, at 7:44 p.m., Officers with the Grand Forks Police Department were dispatched to the 1600-block of 12th Ave. South for a report of a discharge of a firearm within city limits.  Initial investigation revealed a handgun was unintentionally discharged while the operator was attempting to disassemble it.  The discharged round struck a male in the residence.  The injured male was transported to the hospital with an apparent gunshot wound that appeared to be non-life threatening.  No further injuries were reported. 

The Grand Forks Police Department was assisted by members of the Grand Forks Fire Department and Altru paramedics.
