Marilyn R. Goedeke – Obit

Marilyn R. Goedeke, 89, Roseau, MN, formerly of Ada, MN, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at LifeCare Medical Center in Roseau.

Marilyn Ruth Bucholz was born to Harlan and Dorothy (Johnson) Bucholz on November 2, 1931, in Marshalltown, Iowa. She graduated from Green Mountain High School in 1949. Marilyn worked at Grant’s Department Store for a while and then at the Marshall County Courthouse where she was a license clerk.

On December 21, 1951, Marilyn married Donald Goedeke in the First Congregational Church in Green Mountain, Iowa. Their first home was in Mt. Clemens, Michigan where Donald was stationed in the Air Force. They moved to Irvington, New Jersey, Donald’s hometown. They lived there for several years where he was on the police force and she worked in Newark as an auditor for a bank that owned a number of branches in other surrounding cities. They purchased a business back in the Marshalltown/Green Mountain area in the early sixties. In 1977 they sold the tool business and purchased a resort on Cass Lake in Minnesota. In 1984 they sold that and bought a campground on Gull Lake near Tenstrike, MN. They retired to Ada, MN in 1997.

Now there was more time for hobbies, Marilyn did some knitting, more baking, lots of reading and crossword puzzles, most of the time with music in the background. She loved her family and enjoyed her time with them.

Marilyn is survived by two daughters, Donalyn (Shane) Teigland, Roseau, MN, and Sandee (Tom) Drewry, Davenport, ND; four grandchildren, Ryan Irish, Brooklyn, WI, Teralyn (Troy) Stout, Superior, WI, Tyler (Kayla) Drewry, Fargo, ND, Ashley (Jordon) Riel, Colfax, ND; and three great-grandsons, Zeke, Trent and Malakai, and one great-granddaughter, Rosaleigh.

Memorials preferred to any organization or charity of the donor’s choice that would have been near and dear to Marilyn’s heart.

Funeral: 2:00 PM, Friday, February 5, 2021, at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Ada, MN, following all of the Minnesota and CDC COVID-19 social distancing guidelines and with a limited attendance of 60. All must wear a mask to attend.

Visitation: One hour before the funeral at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Ada, MN.

Interment: 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, Marshalltown, Iowa.
