Michael James Volker, 69, died unexpectedly on Feb. 26, 2024. Mike was born on Oct 15, 1954 to William & Olive (Schipper) Volker of Fisher, MN.
After graduation from Fisher High School, Mike enlisted in the Navy where he served for 3 years, stationed in California, Japan, Hawaii and the Philippines. After serving Mike settled in Hopkins, MN. He attended Dunwoody Institute for Chef & Bakery degrees and also travel industry. Mike worked at various restaurants and bakeries and Scicom Printing before starting his 30-year career at Delta Airlines.
Mike was an avid marathon runner, completing 68 marathons in his lifetime. Mike loved biking, yoga, exercise/sports of any kind and was a staple at Lifetime Fitness Center enjoying classes, group bike rides and walk with his friends. Travel was another favorite pastime, just coming back from Tanzania where he hiked Mount Kilimanjaro followed by a weeklong photography safari on the Serengeti. Mike was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hopkins, MN for many years.
Survived by his brother Ed, of Fisher, MN sisters Barb Volker of Hopkins, MN & Joan (Evertt) Reitmeier, nephews, Aaron (Tanya) Gavin & Hayley Reitmeier. Justin (Nicholle) Masen, Jaxsen, Reven Reitmeier & Jax, & Skyla Fredrick all of Crookston, MN. Also, his Aunt Darlene Mikkelson and Uncle Richard (Sherol) Schipper and many cousins and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Bill & Olive and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Service was held on March 2, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church, Hopkins, MN. The family thanks you for your kind words and support.
