Mike Enright pens a letter to the Pirate Girls Hockey team

The Magic of Opportunity

There was a game long ago that epitomized a great truth. In times of great opportunity anything is possible. It may seem like a dusty historical memory now but in Lake Placid a hockey team that arguably had no business on the same sheet as the mighty Soviet’s managed to defeat that Goliath through sheer will and determination.

Thursday night, we find ourselves in a somewhat similar situation. Facing what seems like a juggernaut in the Warroad girls team. This is a team we have struggled to overcome in the past, but it only takes once. One opportunity, one game, one night to truly believe. With this chance, our girls can etch their names in history books. It will require grit and determination seldom found in one’s life. But if they believe as a team, If they are willing to sacrifice as a team, and if they refuse to give in or give up as a team. Then they may create miracles and inspire a generation to continue to do so.

To our pirate girls we wish them the greatest of luck, we put our full support and beliefs behind them. We will cheer for them, we will bleed for them, we will be there for them, and we believe in them.

Thursday is your night. Take hold of it and never let up.

We will be there to see the magic.

Thank you
Mike Enright

NOTE – The game is at the Ralph Englestad Arena at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 13. Admission is $10 for adults, and $5 for students. If you can’t make it, KROX Radio and KROX TV will be broadcasting!
