Milo Jerome Aanenson – OBIT

Milo Jerome Aanenson, 86, of Fertile, MN died May 15, 2024 at Essentia Hospital, Ada MN, surrounded by family.

Milo was born April 6, 1938, the youngest of nine children, to Elias and Christina (Aamodt) Aanenson on the family farm south of Fertile. He made the farm his lifelong home. On September 23, 1962, Milo was united in marriage to Eleanor Flikka at Gabrielson’s Parsonage in Fertile. Together with their children, James and Brian, they worked hard to create a life they were proud of. Grandchildren and animals alike knew of his ‘candy pocket’ and that for only a smile or a nudge, a sweet treat was waiting for them in his upper left breast pocket on his shirt. Like any good Norwegian, he loved a good cup of coffee and the company of his family, who were always welcome in his home. Milo had a soft spot in his heart for animals and always had cattle, horses, chickens, goats, dogs and several other species. For a number of years he took in the “unadoptable” souls from the local Humane Society. Whether blind or missing legs, no matter the issue, he gave them a good life and loved them. He was a gentle, kind man who would do whatever he could to help someone in need.

He is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor, Fertile; children, James of Fertile and Brian (Lisa), Gary, MN; sister, Dorothy Stuhaug, Twin Valley, MN; sister-in-law, Orpha Aanenson, Gary, MN; six grandchildren, Chelsey Larimore, Jeremy Ganssle, Jacob (Heather) Ganssle, Justin (Trina) Ganssle, Peyton Webb and Paxton Aanenson; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Sadie Patczak, Sid Aanenson, Lester Aanenson, Alice Fetting, Doris Alexander, Lila Peterson and Ethel Olson. May God bless the memory of Milo Aanenson. He will be missed.
