MINNESOTA HIGH SCHOOL GIRL’S HOCKEY TEAMS OPENED UP PRACTICE TODAY

Today, the Crookston Pirate Girl’s Hockey team and 122 other high school girls hockey teams in Minnesota opened up their first practice sessions.
The first winter sport to open up, and 16 of them will cap their seasons, making the State Tournament held February 23-26, 2022, at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

The Pirates opened practice this afternoon after school at the Crookston Sports Center under first-year head coach Emily Meyer, an assistant under Tim Moe who resigned after last season. Meyer will be assisted by Stacy Olson, who has been an assistant coach for several years.  

Crookston plays in Section 8A, including Detroit Lakes, East Grand Forks, International Falls, Thief River Falls, and defending champion Warroad. The Pirates will participate in a scrimmage on Friday in Thief River Falls and the Prowlers and East Grand Forks starting at 3:30 PM. Crookston’s first regular-season game will be on Thursday, November 11, hosting Thief River Falls.
