The Miss Crookston Pageant will be held Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Crookston High School. Pageant Coordinator Jean Ann Bienek said there is a great group of six contestants this year. “We have a great group of ladies again this year,” said Bienek. “We have six contestants – Emma Boll, Savannah Meine, Victoria Proulx, Emily Funk, Shelby Aamot, and Linnea French. They are really excited that it’s pageant week.”
Only families of the contestants will be allowed at the pageant meaning there won’t be any extra scholarship funds from ticket sales, which Bienek said the pageant usually banks on. “We are just allowing families,” said Bienek. “So, it will be a little bit different this year but I’m just really glad we’re able to have it and we will do what we’ve got to do for the ladies. They’re a great group. We won’t be charging at the door. Those sales we usually use for the scholarships for the current year and possibly the next year, so we do kind of bank on those ticket sales and the audience, but we’ll make it work.”
Even without ticket sales, Bienek said the community has still provided great support with donations this year. “Each year we send out donation letters to the community in January,” said Bienek. “We have such huge support from our community that we’ve got lots of donations in since January. We’re still getting some to this day too. We’re always willing to accept more if people are willing to donate more.”
Outside of no audience, the show will look a lot like past years and there will be a livestream of the show on Facebook said Bienek. “It will be pretty much exactly the same,” said Bienek. “We’re excited that we’re going to be able to do a Facebook livestream, so people can tune in to Facebook to watch from home and phones. We’re working to get that taken care of this week. Everything will be as usual it will just be less crowd. We’re just excited we can still have it, and the girls are too.”
The Miss Crookston Contestants will be on Valley Talk Monday at 10:40 a.m. on KROX.
