MNDOT to Resurface Highway 2 in Cass Lake Starting September 9

The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced today a resurfacing project on Highway 2 in Cass Lake beginning on September 9. Construction crews will resurface Highway 2 from east of Highway 371 to east of Cass County Road 206.

The contractor for the $677,000 project is Hawkinson Construction. The project will be completed under traffic, and flaggers will guide motorists through the single-lane construction zone. It is expected to be complete by late September, and will create a smoother, safer driving surface. The project also includes sidewalk and curb ramp upgrades at Grant Utlet Avenue and Maple Avenue.

Important reminders for motorists regarding work zone safety:
Slow down when approaching every work zone, then navigate through with care and caution.
Stay alert; work zones constantly change.
Watch for workers and slow-moving equipment.
Obey posted speed limits. Fine for a violation in a work zone is $300.
Minimize distractions behind the wheel.
Be patient; expect delays, especially during peak travel times
