MURDER SUSPECT ARRESTED IN CROOKSTON – TURNED OVER TO CASS COUNTY

The Crookston Police Department, Polk County Sheriff’s Office, and MinnesotaState Patrol assisted the Cass County Sheriff’s Office in the arrest of a Presley Sleyster, age 20, on an outstanding murder warrant.  The arrest was conducted in Crookston on Saturday, December 29 at 2:14 p.m.  “Sleyster was booked at the Northwest Regional Correction Center and later released to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office,” said Crookston Police Sergeant Darin Selzler.
Sleyster appeared in Cass County Court on Monday, December 31 and was charged with 2nd Degree Murder in connection with the death of a 3-month-old child.  On December 5, officers were dispatched to a rural Staples home for a report of a 3-month-old child who was seizing and barely breathing.  The child was airlifted to a St. Cloud hospital and died two days later.
