Students in the Native American Education Program held their first annual plant sale Thursday at Highland School. Before they started the greenhouse they learned about pricing, and risk of running a small business explained Kianna Simpkins. “Before we did the greenhouse we learned about the sale prices and how much it would be if we lost 25 percent of them. And how much they each cost and added that up.”
The students then set to work planting, watering and transplanting the plants explains Jaelyn Johnson. “Mr. Emanuel bought these plants and we had them for two months,” said Johnson. “We unplanted them and then we planted them into another container. We watered them and now we’re selling them.”
Ellyn Adams said she enjoyed working together and making new friends with the greenhouse. “I find selling these plants exciting because you get to meet new people,” said Adams. “We worked together as a group and made new friends.”
