NEW WELCOME TO CROOKSTON SIGN OFFICIALLY UP

A new welcome to Crookston sign is officially up on the North end of town on Highway 2 as you enter the city. You can find it on the right-hand side of the road just before the railroad tracks traveling eastbound on Highway 2.

Joe Kresl, a representative of Ward 5 on the Crookston City Council, said that the sign would make Crookston look more welcoming. “We were just trying to figure out what some of the better things to do for the city of Crookston would be, and the old signs were getting pretty dilapidated,” said Kresl. “We want people to come in see it and feel welcome and then come into Crookston and check things out, and I think this is a big step towards that.”

Many different people devoted time and resources to accomplish this new feature to the town, one of which was Travis Oliver. Travis donated his time to make the sign happen.

Kresl also says there is another sign in the works that will be going up soon. “There is another one going up soon that will be over by Titan Machinery, and we hope to have that one up within the next week or so,” said Kresl. “We have also talked about potentially two other areas, one being by Christian Brothers Ford on Highway 2 and the other over by Draft’s Sports Bar & Grill.”

The idea would be to have signs on all main corridors of town. Kresl said some had wanted the signs up longer than others, but everyone involved is excited this one is officially up. “We all put our heads together and worked hard and came up with ideas, and all that stuff made it come together.”

Below you can see a picture from the official ceremony with many different key figures that helped make the sign possible.
