The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) has announced they are suspending all regular season athletic conference contests effective immediately. The University of Minnesota Crookston is one of the 16 members of the conference. The official release is below.
Based on the latest developments and the continued spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) has announced the suspension of all athletic activities for each of its 16-member institutions. All NSIC contests are suspended immediately, while any non-conference competitions already traveled to are left to institutional discretion up to March 16, at which time all athletic activities must cease.
The league will continue to monitor and evaluate the situation and will make a determination on the remainder of the academic year later this month.

The UMC Golden Eagle Baseball team was scheduled to open up the conference season this weekend at Winona State.
UMC Softball was supposed to play in Winter Haven, Florida starting March 16 and they won’t be able to make the trip now.
University of Minnesota Crookston Chancellor, Mary Holz-Clause, talking about the decision said – “The University of Minnesota Crookston supports the thorough consideration and decision of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference to suspend regular-season competition through March 31. We realize these decisions affect our teams, but the University is committed to the health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff.”
