PIRATE GIRLS AND BOYS TRACK TO SEND 10 ATHLETES TO SECTION MEET

The Crookston Pirate Boys and Girls Track and Field teams will advance 10 athletes, eight girls, and two boys, to the Section 8A meet after solid performances at the West Sub-section meet in Ada on Tuesday afternoon.

The top five placers in each individual event and the top three relay teams automatically advanced to the Section 8A meet. The next six best times/throws/jumps between the two sub-sections also advanced, which doubled Crookston’s participation in the Section 8A meet on Friday in Glyndon.

GIRLS –
The Crookston Girls team will advance four girls in five events for sure. It looks like a few more Pirates will advance as a wild card, but we won’t know for sure until later tonight or Wednesday morning.
The Pirates will advance two in the pole vault as Chloe Boll broke the Pirate Girls pole vault record with a vault of 9 feet 7 inches to finish first place. Chloe breaks Emma Borowicz’s record of 9-4 set in 2021. Halle Winjum finished third place with a vault of 8 feet 7 inches.
Ashlyn Bailey won the 100-meter dash by beating her personal best time by four-tenths of a second with a blistering 12.95 seconds. Bailey also advances to sections in the 200-meter dash with a fifth-place finish.
Grace Boll is advancing in the long jump with a fifth-place finish.

WILDCARD advancers – Crookston is also advancing the following as wild cards.
The 4×100 relay team of Chloe Boll, Grace Boll, Calleigh Fanfulik, and Ashlyn Bailey finished fifth place and made the cut.
Katelyn Christensen finished sixth place in the 800-meter race and advanced.
Chloe Boll finished eighth place in the 200 meters and made the cut.
Halle Winjum finished ninth place in the discus and made the cut.
Nora Groven finished 10th place in the pole vault and made the cut.

BOYS –
The Crookston Boys team is advancing one athlete to the section meet on Friday as Makoti Weber turned in his personal best in the pole vault with a vault of 10 feet 10 inches, which was 10 inches better than his previous personal best!

WILDCARD Advancers –
Aaron Gosse will advance in two events. He finished seventh in the 200 meters and 10th in the 100 meters and advanced to the section meet in both events.
