Pirate Girls Soccer Ties Walker-H-A

The Crookston Girl’s Soccer team played outstanding defense but they couldn’t find the back of the net in a 0-0 overtime tie against the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Wolves in a Section 8A match-up in Walker.
Crookston was busy on the offensive and had six shots on goal in the first half and the defense was stellar, limiting WHA to one shot on goal.  “We had quantity (talking about shots) in the first half,” said Pirate Coach Sarah Reese.
In the second half, Crookston kept the offensive pressure on and had eight shots on goal, but the Wolves goalie stopped all of them.  “We added quality of shots in the second half,” said Coach Reese. After 80 minutes of play, the teams were still scoreless, forcing an overtime.
Crookston had three shots on goal in the overtime session, but once again the Wolves goalie was able to stop every shot and the teams played to a 0-0 tie.
“Most of the play was in the middle third,” said Coach Reese. “Hannah Emanuel had a great game and Dillynn Wallace had a great second half distributing the ball into the attacking third.  Joslynn Leach and Clara Meyer played well at outside mid.”  Reese added that a couple other players had a solid game for the Pirates. “Kenze Epema played consistently well up top, and Brinna Egeland played excellent with the quality of shots and good ball distribution,” said Reese. “It was a tough result, but the girls played well so I was happy with that.”
Crookston is now 0-3-1 on the year and will host Bemidji on Monday.   Walker-Hackensack-Akeley is 0-3-1 on the year.
