PIRATE GIRLS SWIMMING TURNS IN SOLID PERFORMANCE, FINISHES 4TH IN CONFERENCE MEET

The Crookston Pirate Girl’s Swimmer’s finished in fourth place in the North Border Conference meet held at the Crookston Community pool in Crookston.  The Thief River Falls Prowlers won the meet for the fourth straight year with 592 points.

TEAM SCORES
1. Thief River Falls-592
2. Warroad/Roseau/GMR – 524
3.  Fosston-Bagley – 461
4.  Crookston – 220

The Pirates started the meet on a good note when they finished third place in the 200 medley relay.  “We came in with a lot of energy and a lot of excitement,” said Pirate Coach Marley Melbye.  “Getting a third place to start was a great way to start the meet.”
Individually, Crookston was led by Madison Hoiland with a first-place finish in the 100 breaststroke and a second-place finish in the 50 Freestyle. “There were three people neck-and-neck and for Madison to come out in second in the 50 free was great,” said Coach Melbye. Hoiland was also on the third-place relay teams in the 200 Medley and 400 Freestyle.
Mackenzie Aamoth also had a solid meet, swimming on the third-place relay teams and also finishing third in the 100 Butterfly and fourth place in the 100 backstroke.  “Kenzie went three seconds faster than her previous best time so that was awesome,” said Coach Melbye. “Kenzie continues to swim hard and she had a great day today.”
Fallon Johnson was the other Pirate to turn in a fourth-place finish with a solid performance in the 200 Freestyle.  “She swam six seconds faster in the 500 freestyle and she had another solid race in the 200 Freestyle,” said Coach Melbye.
Crookston will be off for two weeks as they prepare for the Section 8A Swimming and Diving meet in Grand Rapids on November 7 and 8.
