UPDATE: CROOKSTON POLICE RESPOND TO A POSSIBLE BREAK-IN IN DOWNTOWN CROOKSTON

CROOKSTON POLICE INCIDENT REPORT 10/9/20 11:50 a.m.

At about 6:40 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, the Crookston Police Department responded to 115 ½ North Main Street on a report of a possible burglary in progress, that a male had entered an occupied residence, and had fled the scene. The male suspect was identified as Andrew Greg Schmiedt, 41 of Crookston.

During the course of the investigation, officers were informed that Schmiedt did not commit a burglary, was very intoxicated, and may have fallen down a stairwell. Schmiedt was later located in Crookston and as a precaution was medically cleared by Crookston Area Ambulance. Schmiedt was issued a citation for disorderly conduct.

The Crookston Police Department was assisted by the Crookston Area Ambulance, Minnesota State Patrol, and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

ORIGINAL STORY 

The Crookston Police Department, Polk County Sheriff’s Office, and Minnesota State Patrol responded to the 100-block of South Main Street on Thursday night on a report of a possible attempted burglary.  The police presence appeared to be centered on the apartments above the True Value Hardware Store.  The Polk County K9 unit was also on scene and executed a search of the building. The authorities and Crookston Ambulance cleared the scene shortly before 8 p.m.

The Crookston Police Department informed KROX at approximately 8:50 p.m. that they had located the person they were looking for in connection with the incident in downtown Crookston. There is no threat to public safety.
