On Saturday, January 26 at 1:55 a.m., the Polk County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible burglary and theft of a dog at 303 North Brandt Avenue in the City of Fosston. The reporting party stated that a person who was known to her had been following her in his vehicle and now was believed to have gone into her residence and stolen her dog. The victim was able to provide evidence of the crime and identified the suspect as Brady Kevin Hanson, age 26, from Fosston.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded and investigated the matter, but were unable to locate Hanson. At approximately 12:00 p.m., the victim was able to recover her dog. The dog is suspected to have been left on the side of County Road 6 north of the City of Fosston sometime early on Saturday. The dog appeared to be uninjured but showed signs of being outside in the frigid temperatures. Tracks from a vehicle and the canine were located north of Fosston. Later on Saturday, Deputies were able to locate Brady Hanson, who was placed under arrest for burglary, theft, stalking and animal cruelty related charges. Mr. Hanson was brought to the Northwest Regional Corrections Center and booked in on those charges.
On Sunday, Polk County Sheriff’s Office Deputies executed a search warrant on the residence of Hanson as well as Hanson’s vehicle. Additional evidence of the crime was located in the vehicle. This case is still under investigation at this time.
