On Friday, October 19 at 5:15 p.m. the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a train vs semi accident at the intersection of US Highway 2 and 190th Ave SE. A semi-truck pulling an empty trailer driven by David Toman, 61 of Grand Forks, attempted to cross the railroad crossing and enter traffic on Highway 2. While waiting to enter traffic, the trailer was struck by a BNSF train traveling westbound. Nobody was injured in the crash. There was extensive damage to the trailer. Toman was cited for failing to stop at the railroad crossing.
Minnesota State Patrol and the Erskine Fire Department assisted at the scene.
