POLK COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE WARNS OF EMAIL SCAM

On Thursday, January 18, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a scam being sent out by e-mail to cities and townships in Polk County.

The scam is sent from a non-Polk County email address and requests payment for computer software regarding tax revenue collection.  The e-mail signature card shows that it came from the Polk County Auditor/Treasurer/Recorder.  One of the email addresses used in the scam is countytreasurer468@gmail.com.  All emails sent from Polk County will end in @co.polk.mn.us.

If you receive any e-mail you believe to be a scam, contact your local Law Enforcement.
