Randall Wayne Hughes – OBIT

Randall Wayne Hughes of Crookston, MN ends his undefeated record proving doctors wrong on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.  He was 71.

He started the streak on July 12, 1952, in Escondido, CA, and at the age of 5 had his first open heart surgery.  He moved to Minnesota at the age of 18, attending college in Moorhead, MN.  Thereafter, he worked as an EMT and Sheriff’s Office Dispatcher before the bulk of his career as a Polk County Deputy Assessor.  It was at the courthouse’s assessor’s office where he met his future bride of 43 years.

He really loved spending time with his wife and three boys.  He was always cruising around in his fun cars.  He also enjoyed teaching and playing guitar while taking photos at every event imaginable.  He remained very active in his community during retirement and served multiple terms as president of The Golden Link.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie Hughes; Three sons:  Nicholas (Jessica) Hughes, Matthew (Whitney) Hughes, Andrew (Alyssa) Hughes; two grandchildren, Jensen Jacob Hughes and Chaley Jane Hughes; Sister-in-law’s, Julie (Jon) Duphorn and Jane Holm; Niece, Nicole Rowland Vaughn’ Nephews:  Chris (Dionette) Holm, Robert (Sarah) Rowland, Jeremy (Wendy) Duphorn, and Jeff (Tish) Dupohorn.

There will be a Funeral Mass at The Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Crookston on Monday, September 11, 2023, at 2:00 PM.  A one-hour visitation will be held prior to that service.  Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery at 4:00 PM.  The family extends an invitation to a luncheon that will be held at the Cathedral from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM, before departing from the church to go to the cemetery.  Please visit stenshoelhouske.com for more information.
