RED LAKE COUNTY LEGION FALLS TO FOSSTON IN DISTRICT TOURNAMENT

A strong pitching and defensive performance from Red Lake County Legion Baseball Post #22 and #623 was not enough, as they fall to Fosston Post #114 Sr Legion Baseball by a score of 3-2 in round one of the Northwest Sub-State District Tournament at Tony Stukel Field in Warroad a game you heard on KROX.

FIRST INNING
Red Lake County began with a lead-off single from Ben Gullingsrud. The next runner grounded into a fielder’s choice for the first out of the inning before the next two batters were retired.
Fosston was retired in 1-2-3 fashion.

SECOND INNING
Red Lake County was retired in 1-2-3 fashion.
The first Fosston batter was retired before Brecken Levin doubled. Fosston hit three straight singles from Hudson Boushee, Zach Theis, and Thatcher Palubicki that scored two runs. The next two batters were retired including an incredible diving catch from right fielder Casey Strothers. The inning ended with Fosston taking the lead 2-0.

THIRD INNING
Red Lake County began the inning with a single from Blake Briland. The next batter grounded into a fielder’s choice before Ben Gullingsrud reached on an error. Carson Erickson and Brock Seeger hit back-to-back rbi singles to tie the game at 2-2. The next two batters were retired.
Fosston was retired in 1-2-3 fashion.

FOURTH INNING
Red Lake County’s Pacey Strother’s drew a lead-off walk. The next two batters were retired before Gunnar Halverson drew a walk. The next batter was retired, ending the threat.
Fosston began the inning with a single from Brekken Levin. Hudson Boushee doubled before Levin tried to stretch to home put was called out at the plate. The next batter grounded into a fielder’s choice, before a successful pick-off attempt at first ended the inning with the score still 2-2.

FIFTH INNING
The first batter was retired before Brock Seeger doubled. The next two batters were retired, ending the half-inning.
Fosston was retired in 1-2-3 fashion.

SIXTH INNING
Red Lake County was retired in 1-2-3 fashion.
Fosston began the inning with a lead-off walk from Tommy Simonson, the next batter was retired before Breck Levin doubled to put runners on second and third. The next two batters were retired, ending the threat and keeping the game tied at 2-2.

SEVENTH INNING
Red Lake County’s first batter was retired before Gullingsrud drew a walk. The next two batters were retired, ending the half-inning with the score still tied 2-2.
The first two batters were retired before Cullen Norland reached on an error. The next batter was retired, sending the game to extras with the game tied 2-2.

EIGHTH INNING
The first Red Lake County batters were retired before Pacey Struthers singled. Brock Knott singled before Struthers was caught on the base path for the final out of the inning, the game still tied at 2-2.
Fosston’s Tommy Simonson walked before the next three batters were retired.

NINTH INNING
Red Lake County’s first two batters were retired. Gullingsrud drew a walk before the next batter was retired.
Fosston began the inning with a lead-off single from Zach Theis, who reached second off of a throwing error. Palubicki laid down a bunt to reach first and get Theis to 3rd. Aiden Wolf hit a sacrifice fly to score a run and end the game with a 3-2 Fosston victory.

Red Lake County falls to 4-8 and will play loser of Stephen-Argyle vs Ada. You can listen to that game on KROX, first pitch is at 4:00 PM.
