RED LAKE FALLS HOSTING SIXTH ANNUAL HOLLY DAZZLE CHRISTMAS EVENT

The City of Red Lake Falls will host their 6th annual Holly Dazzle Christmas Event on Saturday, December 16. The event will feature a vendor show at the Park Place Mall from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and the Women of Today will host Santa Day at City Hall, where children can get their picture taken with Santa from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.

There will also be a bonfire with hot chocolate at the Memorial Park gazebo from 4:00 to 6:30 PM and a Sloppy Joe supper at the American Legion from 4:00 to 6:30 PM that will also feature a prize basket drawing with the grand prize being a carving donated by Klondike Carvings. Vice President of the Red Lake Falls Civic and Commerce Tracy Malwitz describes a way for the community to get involved in the event.

“At Memorial Park down by the gazebo,” Malwitz said. “The Brumwell family is going to have a lighted path set up and are inviting anyone to put up and decorate a Christmas tree in memory of a loved one to do so. They suggest artificial trees and solar lights as there is no power. And if they could hang a picture of their loved ones on the tree with a message as to why the loved one was so special to them.”

All the proceeds from the event will go towards the Riverside Park renovations. The renovations include updating the playground equipment to make it handicapped-accessible and safer for all children. The event will also feature a toiletry drive.

“It’s for the Salvation Army and families that Red Lake County Social Services takes care of,” said Malwitz. “They’re looking for shampoos, conditioners, toothpaste, all those kinds of items. They’re also in need of winter gloves for both children and adults. And the drop off sites for those are at Eagle Square, Cenex, Dakota Heritage Bank, Unity Bank, and Brent’s Fresh Foods.”

The event will also feature a bingo game from December 9 through December 16. The goal is to find Christmas trees at local businesses, and when you do, you can mark it off on your bingo card. “So, we have a list of participating businesses that are doing the bingo,” Malwitz said. “And you’ll go into their businesses and find the tree, and when you find the tree, they’ll stamp your card, and you bring it into Holly Dazzle and have a chance to win a prize. There will be both an adult and a child prize.”

They also encourage anyone who can donate a basket to the Legion Basket Drawing to drop them off at City Hall or at Wilcox Plumbing.
