Five contestants were vying for two spots in the Polk County Commissioner District 1 special election on Tuesday, and Paul Reese and Michelle Cote were the top two vote-getters in the primary election and will advance to the Special election on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.
Only 28 percent (936 out of 3,268) of the registered voters in the District voted.

Michelle Cote – 294 (31.58 percent)
Marlow Jacobson – 186 (19.98 percent)
Kristie Jerde – 73 (7.84 percent)
Travis Johnson – 37 (3.97 percent)
