RICHARD SANDERS – 2018 OUTSTANDING COUNTY ENGINEER OF THE YEAR

Polk County Engineer Richard Sanders received the 2018 Outstanding County Engineer of the Year Award from the Minnesota County Engineers Association (MCEA).  The award was presented at the MCEA Annual Banquet held on January 22, 2019.  Mr. Sanders has been a leader among his peers, not only in Minnesota, but nationally as well.  He has been involved with many MCEA and National Association of County Engineers (NACE) committees, too numerous to mention, and has chaired a number of those committees including the Minnesota Local Road Research Board’s Research Implementation Committee.
Mr. Sanders started working in 1991 as the assistant county engineer for Polk County, becoming the Polk County Engineer in 2002.  He was the 2013 MCEA President, and is the current NACE President. In 2018, he was awarded the Minnesota Toward Zero Deaths Star Award.
MCEA members are county engineers from each of Minnesota’s 87 counties who work to promote their profession and uphold the engineering code of ethics.
