Giving Hearts Day 2024 will go down in the books as another amazing example of community support of RiverView Health.
Thanks to generous donors giving to the RiverView Foundation, the February 8 event brought in about 250 gifts for more than $154,000 to enhance care at RiverView.
“I am grateful and humbled by the hundreds of donations given not only on Giving Hearts Day, but throughout the year, that benefit patients, the services we offer, and the importance of keeping quality healthcare close to home,’’ shared Foundation Director Randy Schoenborn. “Giving Hearts Day is about investing in our local hospital to keep it strong and vibrant for today and tomorrow.’’
Undesignated funds will be used to assist in the cost of replacing sterilizers in RiverView’s Surgical Services Department, allowing for an increase in surgical hours and reduced downtown associated with maintenance repairs, cancellations, and reschedules.
Participating in Giving Hearts Day since its 2008 start, the Foundation has raised over $2.4 million through the online event. The overall tally for the 600-plus charities participating on Thursday hit a record of more than $29 million.
According to the Dakota Medical Foundation, Giving Hearts Day has become one of the country’s longest-running and most successful giving days, providing a platform for North Dakota and northwest Minnesota charities to raise nearly $195 million.
