Before the craze of spring planting, it’s time to think farm safety, or, more specifically, farmer safety. RiverView Health will offer a free public health presentation on Wednesday, March 27, titled “Spine Care for Farmers: Occupational Health in the Farming Community.”
Josie Huot, a University of North Dakota Occupational Therapy Doctoral student, will present on low back and neck pain among the farming population. As a result of her occupational therapy background, Huot will share a helpful resource that provides simple recommendations to reduce the risk of injury and pain related to farm work. Ensure a long farming career by learning ways to prevent pain in everyday activities.
Huot grew up on a family farm near Red Lake Falls. She has been working on her doctoral project with RiverView Health as her sponsor; the March 27 presentation results from the collaboration.
The presentation will begin at noon in the Conference Rooms at RiverView Health, 323 S. Minnesota Street, Crookston. Registration is required; please leave a message at 218-281-9745 with your name and number of guests attending. RiverView will provide coffee and water.
On your way to the Conference Rooms, stop by Holte and Café inside RiverView’s main doors for lunch or snack items, including sandwiches, soup, desserts, and beverages. Feel free to bring your purchases to the presentation and eat as you learn.
