Roger Duane Hanson – OBIT

Roger Duane Hanson, 84, of Beltrami, MN, left this earthly life to be with the Lord on
October 18, 2023, at Fairmeadow Nursing Home after a long battle following his stroke.
Roger Duane Hanson was born to Ivel and Mae Hanson in Crookston, MN, on April 11,
1939. He graduated from Fertile Beltrami High School in 1957 and later received his master’s degree from NDSU.

Roger and Shirley (Hoffe) Hanson were united in marriage on March 21, 1959, at Concordia Lutheran Church of Fertile, MN. They were blessed with two children Debbie Haugrud and Dennis Hanson. He taught junior high social studies in Great Falls, MT for 14 years before moving back to Beltrami and buying the family farm. He farmed until shortly before his stroke in 2019.

Going to have coffee with the other Beltrami guys every day, bible study, traveling,
fishing, woodworking, and his family brought hours of enjoyment. He always said that the most important thing was his relationship with the Lord, and his greatest desire was for others to be saved.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Beltrami; children, Debbie (Brent) Haugrud of
Rothsay, and Dennis (Dina) Hanson of Fertile; six grandchildren, Ben (Jenna) Haugrud, Nathan (Amanda) Haugrud, Rachel (Greg) Schlangen, Austin (DeeAnna) Hanson, Seth (Rachelle) Hanson, and Noah Hanson; great-grandchildren, Bruce, Boaz, Brynlee, Blake, Maria, Ella, Lucas, Andrew, Henry, and Peter; and brother LeRoy (Elda) Hanson and brother-in-law George Winkel of Brooklyn Park..

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Audrey Money of Tennessee, and
Elayne Winkel of Brooklyn Park.

A Visitation will take place at Resurrection Free Lutheran Church on Sunday, October
29, 2023, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., with a time of sharing to follow. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at Resurrection Free Lutheran Church on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 2.00 p.m. with a time of visitation an hour before. A private inurnment service will take place at a later date.
