Roxanne “Roxy” D. Anderson – Obit

Roxanne “Roxy” D. Anderson, 84, Ada, MN, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Roxanne Anderson was born in Wadena, MN on July 17, 1937, to Lester and Maxine (Ripley) Roesch. The family lived in Verndale, MN until Roxy was 5. They moved to Ada where they settled and Roxy attended school, graduating in 1955. She attended UND for 1 year and then Sisters of St. Joseph School of Nursing.

While in school, she met Raymond Swanson, and the two married upon completing their education. They moved to Rochester, MN, and had 2 children, Wendy and Jeff. Ray died in 1967 of lung cancer. The family returned to Ada and Roxy began working at the Ada Municipal Hospital where she stayed for 30 years, retiring as the Assistant Administrator in 1997.

In 1983, Roxy married Don C. Anderson. The two enjoyed spending time at White Earth Lake fishing and listening to the loons. They enjoyed traveling together with Don’s siblings. During their travels, she developed a love for Disney and Mickey Mouse. She enjoyed sharing this love with her grandkids. After Don’s death in 2015, she moved for the first time in 48 years from 5th St W in Ada to Jamestown, ND to be closer to family.

Roxy is survived by her children, Wendy (Darrell) Hournbuckle, Jamestown, ND, and Jeffrey (Kimberly) Swanson, Fargo, ND; stepchildren, Dwight (Jennifer) Anderson, Moorhead, MN, Gayle (Todd) Finn, Spearfish, SD, and Kenny Anderson, Fargo, ND; 3 grandchildren, Andrea Hournbuckle, Tanner Swanson, and Ashlyn Swanson; 15 step-grandchildren, Kristina Martinson, Tony Paquin, Dylan Finn, Sebastian, Fred, and Annie Anderson, John, Michael, Meagen (Solie), Nick, Savannah, and Ella Anderson, and Kayla, Brandon and Nathan Brown; and 5 step-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Maxine Roesch; husbands, Raymond Swanson and Don Anderson; grandparents, Mike and Clara Roesch, and Walter and Hazel Ripley; and grandson, Tylor Hournbuckle.

Funeral: 11:00 AM, Friday, September 3, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ada, MN. Masks are strongly encouraged and appreciated by the family.

Visitation: One hour before the service at the church.

Interment: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
