Roy S. Stola Jr. – Obit

Roy S. Stola Jr., 91, Rural Shelly, MN, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Halstad Living Center, Halstad, MN.

Roy was born July 25, 1930, to Roy Selmer Sr. and Emma (Evje) Stola in Crookston, MN. He attended grade school in Scandia Township School and graduated from Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston. Roy was drafted in 1952 into the United States Army and a second time in 1955. In 1956 he spent 1 ½ years in Camp Hanford in Washington. In 1958 he met the love of his life Josephine “Jo” Alice Blomberg and together they were married on October 10, 1959, in Raymond, MN.

Roy farmed near Shelly his entire life and he enjoyed traveling and socializing with his neighbors. He was also an active Gideon for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife Josephine Stola in 2005.

Roy will be greatly missed by his children, Lyle (Tina) Stola of Palm Bay, FL, Julie (Mauricio) Masferrer of Fernandina Beach, FL, Joel (Maxine) Stola of Beltrami, MN, Roseann (Arn) Rasker of Boulder, CO, and Paul Stola of Halstad, MN; 9 grandchildren, Lorenzo Stola, Louis-Antonio (Alicia) Stola, Whitney (Nate) Leedahl, Amber Stola, Mark (Jackie) Stola, Keya (Jesse) Nelson, Kasia (Cody) Moore, Anders Rasker, and Sam Stola; 6 great-grandchildren, Amayah, Jude, Griffin, Leam, Wyatt, and Stefan.

Funeral: 1:00 PM, Friday, May 20, 2022, at Resurrection Free Lutheran Church, Beltrami, MN.

Visitation: One hour before the funeral at the church.

Interment with full military rites: Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Rural Shelly, MN.
