SACRED HEART SCORES 2 IN THE 7TH INNING TO BEAT FOSSTON

The Sacred Heart Eagles used late-game heroics once again as they scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to beat the Fosston Greyhounds 5-3 to advance to the Section 8A Championship game.

FIRST INNING
The first two Sacred Heart batters were retired before Parker Erickson reached on a walk. Erickson stole second base and was stranded there as the next batter grounded out.
Fosston was retired in 1-2-3 fashion, and the game was scoreless after one inning.

SECOND INNING
Elliot Arntson walked with one out before Isaac Sundby laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance Arntson over to second base with two outs. The next batter flew out to center field.
The first two Fosston batters were retired before Markus Olson and Aaron Norland had back-to-back singles. After a wild pitch, Fosston scored a run to take a 1-0 lead.

THIRD INNING
Sacred Heart responded in the third inning when a pitch hit Josiah Sundby, Parker Erickson singled, and Ethan Arntson singled to score a run to tie the game at 1-1.
Cullen Norland singled with one out and stole second base. The next batter flew out to right field, and Norland tagged up and made it to third base. Sacred Heart appealed that Norland left early when he tagged up, and the umpire agreed. Norland was out, and the score was 1-1 after three innings.

FOURTH INNING
Sacred Heart was retired in 1-2-3 fashion in the top of the inning.
Fosston had Carson Boushee reach on an error with one out, but the next batter hit into a double play, and the inning was over.

FIFTH INNING
Mike Gapp drew a one-out walk before stealing second base. The next batter, Josiah Sundby singled to left field, and Gapp scored to give Sacred Heart a 2-1 lead.
Fosston’s Markus Olson reached on an error, and Aaron Norland crushed a line drive off the left field fence for a single, and runners were at first and second base with nobody out. Zach Theis singled up the middle to score a run to tie the game at 2-2. Aiden Wolfe hit a ground ball to the shortstop and reached on a fielder’s choice to score another run for a 3-2 lead.

SIXTH INNING
David Larson reached on a one-out walk and advanced to second base on a passed ball. Elliot Arntson singled to center field to score a run to tie the game at 3-3. A pitch hit Isaac Sundby before the next two batters struck out looking.
Carson Boushee led off the bottom of the inning with a single before stealing second base. The next two batters were retired before Boushee was tagged out at third base on a ground ball, and the game was tied at 3-3 going into the seventh inning.

SEVENTH INNING
Sacred Heart has found ways to win close games with big hits, and they did it again in the seventh inning. Jake Satterlund doubled off the left field fence with one out. After a strike-out, Ethan Arntson was intentionally walked before David Larson doubled to score two runs for a 5-3 lead.
Aiden Wolfe singled with one out, but the next two batters were retired and Sacred Heart won 5-3.

Sacred Heart advanced to the Section 8A championship on Thursday at Bemidji State. KROX will have the game on radio.
