WEST MARSHALL BASEBALL BEATS LOW IN SECTION TOURNEY

The West Marshall Fusion used solid pitching and timely hitting to beat the Lake of the Woods Bears 6-0 in the Section 8A Baseball tournament at Bemidji State University.

FIRST INNING
West Marshall leadoff batter, Will McGlynn was hit by a pitch to start the game. After an out, Demetrius Oberg hit a line drive to left field the Bear outfielder misplayed the ball, and the runners were at second and third base. Aiden Anderson knocked in a run with a 
sacrifice fly to right field for a 1-0 lead.
Lake of the Woods had runners at second and third base with one out before Jackson Woinarowicz struck out the next two batters to get out of the jam.

SECOND INNING
West Marshall started the inning with another hit batter, as Woinarowicz was the victim this time. He stole second base, and his courtesy runner scored on a McGlynn single for a 2-0 lead.
Woinarowicz faced four batters in the bottom of the inning and struck out three to get out of the inning.

THIRD INNING
West Marshall sent four batters to the plate in the inning, with Carson Safranski reaching on an error, but the Fusion wasn’t able to score a run in the inning.
Lake of the Woods’ Wyatt Shaw doubled with one out, and after a walk,a fielder’s choice, and a hit batter, bases were loaded with two outs. The next batter popped out to the third baseman, and the Bear threat was over.

FOURTH INNING
West Marshall had a solid inning, with Derek Moehrle leading off with a single, Nick Winge doubled. Moehrle scored on a wild pitch, and another run scored on a Dylan Widner single for a 4-0 lead.
Lake of the Woods was retired in 1-2-3 fashion in the bottom of the inning.

FIFTH INNING
West Marshall added another run in the fifth inning when Oberg walked. His courtesy runner Cooper Clausen stole second base and advanced to third on an error. Clausen scored on a suicide squeeze that was perfectly executed with a bunt by Carson Safranski for a 5-0 lead.
Lake of the Woods was retried in 1-2-3 fashion in the bottom of the inning.

SIXTH INNING
Nick Winge drew a one-out walk before the next two batters were retired.
Lake of the Woods sent four batters to the plate and couldn’t score and West Marshall took a 5-0 lead into the seventh inning.

SEVENTH INNING
West Marshall led off the inning with a Kekke hit. He stole second base, stole third base, and scored on a wild pitch for a 6-0 lead.
Lake of the Woods was retired in 1-2-3 fashion, and West Marshall won the game 6-0.

West Marshall will play Ada-Borup-West on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Bemidji State University. KROX will carry the game with a pre-game show at 1:30 p.m.
