SCRUFFY TAILS INTRODUCES THEIR NEWEST TEAM MEMBER-DIRECTOR ANA GUSTAFSON

Scruffy Tails Humane Society would like to introduce their newest hire, Ana Gustafson. She has now taken over as the director of Scruffy Tails.

Gustafson is from Nebish, Minnesota, located north of Bemidji. Gustafson has been a licensed veterinary technician for ten years. She studied at the University of Minnesota Crookston and the Minnesota School of Business in Lakeville.

Experience seems to be a non-issue for Scruffy Tails’ newest team member. “I’ve worked at several places. Most notably at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus, and I’ve worked out in Seattle,” said Gustafson. While in Seattle, Ana worked for both emergency and specialist veterinary care centers.

Gustafson is looking to immediately impact the Humane Society by being their first director in quite some time. “They’ve been without a director for a year and kind of been treading water,” said Gustafson, “There are a lot of things the board has been able to, but there are a lot of things they have had to sideline. I think I’ll be able to make a difference.”

Gustafson believes Scruffy Tails has been a staple in the community, and she claims to assure community members that the heart and passion for the animals is still a driving force. “Scruffy Tails has been a long-standing institution in the community. They did go through a name change a couple of years ago,” said Gustafson, “The heart is still there. The mission of the place has always been to find loving homes for them and to be able to help the animals that come through our door.”

Ana stated that the next step in the building renovations is crucial for animals and their living conditions. The staff at Scruffy Tails are concerned about the downstairs area of the facility and the public visiting that area due to its run-down conditions. The downstairs room contains pet kennels and storage for food and other goods.

On Sunday, August 27, the community is invited to have a meet and greet with Gustafson from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Scruffy tails Humane Society located at 720 E Robert Street. “Sunday is a chance for people to put a face to the name and talk to me,” said Gustafson, “If they have any questions, we will have information up on renovations and renovations that we are looking to do. This will be a great opportunity for people that will have questions. Members of the board and myself will be there.”

Coffee and refreshments will also be provided during the Sunday event.
