On Tuesday, Senator Mark Johnson (R- East Grand Forks) voted for a series of motions and to pass a resolution enacting the agreement between Democrats and Republicans to share power through a temporary organizing structure. The changes mean Johnson will serve as the Senate Republican Leader, and allotted equal membership from Democrats and Republicans to each committee, along with Co-Chairs and Co-Vice Chairs from each caucus.
“Senate Republicans are ready to work together to put Minnesotans first this session,” Senate Republican Leader Mark Johnson (East Grand Forks) said. “You’ll see Republican Co-Chairs highlight our priorities to help Minnesotans afford their lives, reduce the growth of government, and stop the fraud, waste, and abuse of taxpayer dollars. As The Republican Leader, we will convene floor sessions and take up motions that put Minnesotans first.”
Senator Johnson was named Co-Chair of the powerful Senate Rules and Administration and given an assignment to the State and Local Government Committee.
“I’m happy to return to the Rules Committee to ensure the Senate runs itself with the highest levels of integrity and respect. And I’m excited to sit on the State and Local Government committee, which will be a new experience for me. We always have more to learn and I’m looking forward to hearing from our local leaders on how the legislature can improve things for every level of government,” Sen. Johnson concluded.
